STONE AND ARCHITECTURE

WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF BUILDING-ARCHITECTURE.COM???

FeatureStHomeTag

This is a resource website on how to bring architecture, and particularly architectural stone, into your home!

DetailStoneCorner02

  1. My greatest desire is to open your mind to the possibilities of home improvement or design with architectural stone.
  2. I want to help you with those details that might come up in your own Do It Yourself  home projects. I am always adding to the “B-A.com Resource Page” terms and definitions, products, manufacturers and contractors in stone-related architecture, and drawings and details for DIY.
  3. I regularly feature, draw, and/or post details, manufacturers, other DIY and architecture blogs and information sites to help YOU!  Let’s face it,  great ideas come from seeing what others our doing.  But just in case, we include some projects that someone else tried that should NEVER BE DONE AGAIN (LOL)!
  4. Because I love architecture, I also take time occasionally to look at the events and trends of ‘Big’ architecture.  These are often larger projects with (or without) stone that reveal some quality details that can be learned about and maybe even incorporated into our own homes.

WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF STONE???  LINK HERE FOR TYPES AND DEFINITIONS

MY PHILOSOPHY OR “EDGE” ABOUT ARCHITECTURE FOR REGULAR PEOPLE LIKE US!
Most of us have modest, fairly ordinary homes. Some have small weekend cabins. Others of us have small businesses with a physical “brick and mortar” shop. Whether it’s houses, structures, businesses or under-developed yards and patio areas, they can be made into pieces or places of architecture.  We don’t have to live the rest of our lives taking an evening drive into downtown or over to “Mansion-burb Bluffs” to see some architecture. Instead, let’s figure out how to design some architecture into our buildings and places! Creative and designed spaces or places involve thought, research, and discovery as much as money (and yes, they do involve some money, too). If we can bring unusual materials, building systems, or design styles into our own homes and businesses without needing world-renown architects and eye-popping budgets, then this website will accomplish it goals?

FACEBOOK – YEAH! WE’RE THERE LIKE EVERYONE ELSE!
And by the way, Building-Architecture is on Facebook, too!   From that social media platform we upload photos of architectural details, places, and ideas on a daily basis just so we can look at, “LIKE”, and hopefully comment on (Hint! Hint!) for fun as well as an education.   LINK:  Follow us on Facebook!

PLEASE give your thoughts!! Include suggestions, architectural details, stories, or even disagree with the architecture or ideas we feature.  That’s what is great about this topic of study, it provides numerous solutions that provide different answers! As we learn through discussions and even a friendly debate, I hope that we will learn together how to bring architecture into our own buildings!
